The Art of Making Space – Decluttering Blog(PART 1)

THE ART OF MAKING SPACE

Space is energy and energy is what makes the world go round – physically and emotionally. When your space is cluttered, you are blocking energy and over time this leads to your life becoming stagnant.

In short, clutter is TOXIC.

We are all guilty of the urge to soothe ourselves with online shopping and before we know it packages are being delivered in a daily basis and the delivery guys knows you by name. Sound familiar? It certainly is to me!

But what about all the previous purchases you made, that you’re not quite sure about but haven’t returned yet? And the wonderfully sentimental inheritance pieces you received from your dearest Gran and can’t bear to part with? The cutest artworks from your children’s time at nursery school?

Where will it all go?

So, now that you have amassed all this extra “stuff” in your space and have come to the realisation that it is weighing you down – you need to attack this immediately.

Clutter is low lying, stagnant, heavy and confusing energy. So, the sooner it is out of your house the better. After all your home is your living space, not a storage space.

That’s where we can help you. Firstly, with a few decluttering tips and secondly, with space, as much or as little as you need, for as long as you need it. Storage space will give you time to breathe and think clearly about what to keep, what to donate and what you could sell to recoup some of your hard-earned cash.

DECLUTTERING TIPS OF THE DAY

  1. Starting with your wardrobe – do you have clothes and shoes that you haven’t worn in more than a year? Most people wear 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. The rest of the clothes are for “when I lose weight”, impulse sale/online buys, or just in case. So, I would never suggest you simply get rid of the stagnant 80%, but just make a start by packing at least half of them into boxes labelled and dated for 6 months from now, drop the boxes off with us and if you haven’t looked for or thought about those items in 6 months’ time, then it’s time to let them go for good.

2. Let’s move onto the kitchen pantry – did you really need to buy the 8 jars of olives that were on special because they were near expiry date in 2023? Still in the pantry? Let them go…

3. 3 dinner services, 42 coffee mugs and a mishmash of electrical appliances that you’re not certain are still working? Pack them up in labelled boxes and drop them off with us. Again, give yourself 6 months to see if you really miss them… if you find that you do and can’t live without them then come and collect from us. By this time, you will have made space in your home, and you will be able to pack them back into your kitchen neatly – now that you know where everything should be. If not, use the time to think about how they could be used to make someone else’s life easier or even just make someone else happy by receiving a gift from you!

4. Last and most useful tip of the day – Phone Storage Sentry on 010 157 4250 and speak to either Sally or Sarah to book your space today!
